STORAGE OF BREWED TEA
Brewed tea should not be stored too long because its quality deteriorates quickly. If kept in the pot or cup too long during infusion, the tea will become “stewed” and taste bitter and harsh. Once brewed, separate tea leaves from liquid and store in an airpot to keep tea hot. If allowed to cool to room temperature, tea can be reheated, but it will not be as flavorful or aromatic as a fresh cup. In any event, never hold finished brewed tea for more than eight hours at room temperature. If you love iced tea, just save the remaining room temparature tea and store in the refrigerator to enjoy great iced tea the next day.
To truly maximize the taste and quality of brewed tea, please follow steeping times and serve immediately.
STORAGE OF LOOSE LEAF TEA
Tea is sensitive to both air and light (which will break down its flavor) and it easily absorbs moisture and odors. Thus, loose leaf tea is best stored in an airtight container, in a cool, dry place, and away from any strong smelling items. If the storage container is clear (such as glass) it should also be stored away from direct sunlight. Re-sealable Ziploc bags or similar airtight containers are ideal for tea storage. Regardless of which type of container you choose, the tea should be used within a reasonable time.
Following these steps will keep your tea fresh, flavorful and aromatic
